Why are you reading this ask, Matt? If it's an ask to your Tumblr blog, you must be on Tumblr. That means the program you're running right now must be some kind of web browser. Web browser. You don't use a web browser to make music, do you Matt? You prefer Fruity Loops, don't you Matt? So why are you on a web browser Matt, why aren't you on Fruity Loops? You're never going to get any music made this way Matt and we all NEED YOU TO MAKE MUSIC, DON'T WE MATT?? ISN'T THAT RIGHT MATT???

I browse my tumblr with FL Studio actually…
I also play Diablo III with FL Studio.
So HAH
Wait...wait, you like applejack 'cause the song you made?

Anonymous
Noooo, I like Applejack because of the things she says and the way she says it, which is also why I put it in the song.
I’m sorry I flooded your dashboard
Hi Matt! Thanks for inspiring me to make electronic music! Oh wait a minute, this isn't a question....uh...I suppose I should ask one quickly... WHY DO YOU LIKE APPLEJACK SO MUCH?
JUST FINE HINT HINT short version.
Who would win in a fight? You or SoGreatAndPowerful?
SoGreatAndPowerful because… he’s just… so great… and powerful…
I've noticed that many folks are asking you stuff about the music you're making, but my question isn't that. How long did it take for you to figure out how to properly and efficiently use FL Studio? Ableton was my first workstation and I've recently gotten FL Studio as an additional daw, but for me, FL seems to be a lot more difficult to learn than Ableton was.

I’m still learning new things as I use it, and probably will continue to do so for a looong time. To learn how to use just the basic “allow me to make music” type functions took maybe a year teaching myself. It could take a lot less time if you had someone to show you around it.
Learning Ableton after FL Studio took about a week. It was a lot easier to learn, and knowing one DAW makes learning others much easier for sure. I still like FL Studio better overall, but Ableton is pretty awesome.
I guess I could send you an ask. I dunno. I baked cookies last night, I guess I could mail you some if you're productive? I'm not sure how well they'd keep, though.
Could you just email me some?

THEN WORK! We know, the Internet is addicting. But you can do this! Fight the power it has over you! Come to the light side!
I've been trying to motivate myself to make my first song for quite a while now. I even have a general idea of how I want to go about it, but I just put it off and feel like it's pointless. I especially get demotivated when I hear something mind blowing, feeling like I couldn't possibly live up to such great music. Could you offer any advice to help me pick myself up? What do you do to help get motivated to make music?
Yes, I know the exact feeling. Anytime I listen to professionally made music to try and pick up more skills or hear certain things that make it better, it’s just so much higher quality than what I’m able to produce at the time, which is very very discouraging.
I recommend finding a place that posts music regularly with musicians around your skill level (aka just learning how to make music for the first time).
Also I can’t stress enough to get as many sounds as you possibly can since usually the sounds that come with a music program by default tend to suck a lot.
You say you need incentive, so... For every song you release, I'll donate $100 to the Get-PPS-To-Bronycon fund. You know the one. They have to be full songs, though - no cheating!
